Good afternoon and welcome to today’s fixture against Eastleigh. Ten matches to go in what now surely appears to be a two horse race for ‘top spot’. These notes are being penned ahead of Tuesday evening’s encounter at Boreham Wood and so fingers crossed that our unbeaten run is still intact.
Regardless of what transpired on Tuesday evening what a time to be a City fan. A club record twenty four unbeaten league matches dating back to October 1st. Nine successive wins, a club record. Nine successive away wins, a club record. Away followings of more than 1600 at Scunthorpe and more than 1100 at Morecambe. And a Dan Batty goal. Sorry Dan!! That said perhaps it was worth the wait having seen that howitzer hit the back of the net at Wealdstone!
Off the pitch the Trust has been active in many areas with Project 2000, our campaign to double membership ahead of our 25th anniversary in February 2027 and with our Renew Your Vows 26 campaign which at the time of writing had raised circa £1800. That means that – to date – over the two campaigns around 80 Life Members from a total of 700 have renewed. A reminder that all monies raised from RYV26 will be heading to the club for spending on an infrastructure project of their choosing.
As we said in the recent Radio York interview both on and off the pitch things could hardly be going much better.
Trust Chairman, Seth Sowerby, recently attended a meeting with the Independent Football Regulator to ensure that the voices of you, the City supporters, are heard. In addition Trust Board Member Alastair Smith, who is one of two Board Members on the Board of YCFC, represented the club at a recent National League EGM where it will come as no surprise that one of the topics of discussion was the ‘3-Up’ campaign. These are just two examples of YCST activity going on behind the scenes to ensure that our fantastic supporters get the representation that they deserve.
Since our last programme article the draw was made in the raffle for a signed shirt worn by City legend Jon McCarthy during the 1993-95 era. The raffle raised around £1400 for Trust funds. Lucky draw winner is Jeremy Gibson. Plans are currently underway to invite Jon to an upcoming fixture at the LNER in order that Jeremy can be presented with his prize. We are sure that City supporters will give Jon the warmest of LNER welcomes! And we thank all supporters who purchased tickets in the raffle.
YCST Board Members will be on hand to meet with supporters ahead of the game at the following fixtures. We’d love you to stop by and air your views on the topics highlighted per fixture, though of course you can speak to us on any topic!
