Whilst conducting research in the City Archives in 2002, York City Supporters’ Trust discovered details of a celebration dinner held at the Royal Station Hotel to mark the purchase of Bootham Crescent by the football club in 1948.  At the time, the Trust board decided to hold a memorial dinner at the hotel to mark our ultimate departure from Bootham Crescent.

Following several months of planning, we are pleased to announce that this special celebration will be held on Sat 8th June 2019, from 7.30pm. The black-tie event will incorporate a stunning audio-visual show featuring historic footage from Bootham Crescent, several guest speakers, a fundraising auction and music late into the evening. It will be a true celebration of everything York City.

Working closely with The Principal York’s chefs, the Trust has formulated a three-course menu that gives a nod to post-war cuisine although with a more palatable and contemporary twist. Guests can pre-order from several dishes available for each course in the run up to the event.

Speaking about the dinner, Trust chairman Mike Brown said, “We are thrilled to follow in the footsteps of the club’s forefathers by hosting this unique celebration of Bootham Crescent. It will be a fantastic opportunity for fans to share their fondest memories of the ground.”

Tracy Harrison, General Manager of The Principal York said, “The hotel is delighted to be hosting this special event, some 71 years on from the 1948 dinner. We hope that all guests have an enjoyable and memorable evening.”

To signify the club’s 87-year history at Bootham Crescent, tickets for the dinner are £87 per person and are available from http://www.ycst.org.uk/shop/. Local businesses and community groups are also invited to book a table of 10 for a reduced price of £795. Numbers are strictly limited to 200, so fans are encouraged to book as early as possible.
