YCST Relaunch Renew Your Vows Initiative For Life Members – Sat Feb 14th

Following the success of The Trust’s ‘Renew Your Vows’ 2025 campaign when around 60 Life Members responded to the initiative, on Saturday 14th February York City Supporters Trust will once again be inviting Life Members to join those 60 supporters in declaring their love for YCFC by renewing their vows.

YCST was formed back in 2002 when the greed of a few threatened the existence of York City. Over the intervening 24 years the Trust has had to step in on multiple occasions in order to save the club.

This Valentine’s Day we are asking long-standing Life Members to demonstrate their love for YCFC by renewing their vows by re-pledging a donation to the Trust to help fund club infrastructure projects.

Over the last 12 months the Trust Board would like to think that we have demonstrated a renewed focus on fan engagement. Certainly the Hillsborough and Old Trafford anniversary events were extremely well received with funds flowing through to the football club.

But, the reality is that our ability to hold such events is dependant on monies available. The vast majority of our 700 Life Members joined in our hour of need back in 2002. Fair to say that none of that money remains in the bank account today! Hence the ‘Renew Your Vows’ initiative. We’d like to think that our supporters will come on board so that we can demonstrate to our majority owners and their business partners that we, the supporters, mean business just as they clearly mean business in returning City back to the Football League.

To be crystal clear, any funds raised from this campaign will, as last season, be donated to YCFC for use on an infrastructure project of their choice. Last year supporters may recall that funds raised from ‘Renew Your Vows’ contributed to the £12k that was presented to the club and was used for the purchase of a mini bus for use by the club’s youth team.

To renew their vows the Trust is asking for a recommended one-off donation of £100, but realise that this isn’t within everyone’s means. Renewing your vows is completely optional and there is no minimum donation.

Alternatively supporters can sign up for a recurring annual donation of £10.

Supporters are urged to visit www.ycst.org.uk and follow the instructions on how to renew vows.

YCST Charitable Fund

We are delighted to announce the next recipient of a £500 donation from our charitable fund which came about as a result of supporter donations to the Shrimpers Trust down at Southend United as has been explained in previous articles.

Representatives from York Menfulness will be guests of the Trust at this evening’s fixture.

York Menfulness bring men together to socialise, exercise, enjoy themselves, talk and let off steam in a non-judging, friendly and supportive environment. These are all essential for wellbeing and health, both physical and mental.

A York Menfulness spokesman commented ‘Menfulness is a York based volunteer-led charity that originally began in 2018 as Yorkey Dads. Our aim is to break the stigma behind men’s mental health, provide a safe environment for men to get support if they need it, and also fund life-changing/saving counselling. We facilitate regular events such as 5-a-side football, walk & talks, dads/daughters hair school, breakfast clubs, talk groups and much more, with the aim of getting like minded blokes together and talking. The generous donation from YCST as part of Paddy McLaughlin’s testimonial year will go directly to counselling, where we can have someone in front of a counsellor within 48hrs of referral’.

Joining could not be simpler. Just visit the Trust website – www.ycst.org.uk – click on the membership tab and follow the instructions from there for either annual or lifetime membership.
