During the last two years everyone has learned what football fans already knew, football is nothing without fans. Since returning to matches, fans sitting in the Nfinnerty Stand, locally known as ‘The South Standers’, have done a fantastic job at creating an atmosphere at the LNER Community Stadium. To help The South Standers efforts we are pleased to announce that flags will return to York City FC Games from the Gloucester home game this Saturday 23rd April 2022.

In close consultation with the football club and Stadium Management Company we have designed and produced five huge flags that meet all the necessary fire retardancy standards. The Trust will be recruiting volunteers from the South Stand to wave the flags before kick-off and at half-time. It is hoped that this initiative will help to raise the atmosphere at games and improve positive engagement with our younger supporters.

With only two games left of the season the Trust have had to act quickly to ensure that flags can be enjoyed at the LNER this season. We want supporters to get  far more involved in future flag designs and so we hope to add to the collection with fan-designed flags during the closed season.

Should fans want to organise their own flag designs please contact info@ycst.org.uk so that the Trust can provide relevant advice and make the necessary arrangements.  It is important to stress that all flags must first be approved by the SMC before being allowed entry to the ground.

The Trust, football club and SMC want all fans to enjoy a fantastic matchday experience and we call on all fans to get behind the squad and support the club in a positive way going forwards. We look forward to unveiling the flags this coming weekend.
