The York City Supporters’ Trust is pleased to announce a significant proposal regarding the future of York City Football Club.
To facilitate their continued investment in the future of York City our partners Julie-Anne and Matt Uggla have requested to purchase an additional 24% of the club from the Trust, bringing their ownership to 75%. This step has the potential to bring substantial benefits to our beloved club while further strengthening the Trust’s rights & protections. With our commitment to transparency and member engagement we are unveiling this at the earliest opportunity, with the intention of ensuring that as many of our fans as possible can actively participate in the decision-making process and shape the future of our football club.
Timeline of Key Events:
14/11/2023 – Formal SGM Announcement
We will issue the formal announcement of the Special General Meeting to vote on the motion to sell an additional 24% of York City Football Club to 394 Sports. This announcement will include a detailed Share Purchase Agreement, Partnership Agreement, and proposed changes to the club’s Articles.
15/11/2023 – Public Presentation by 394 Sports
Following the SGM announcement, we have scheduled a public presentation by 394 Sports, during which they will outline their plans for the future of our football club. This presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, and we are thrilled to share that it will be streamed by the club, allowing all our members to participate and gain insight into the direction our club is taking. Details on how to attend this presentation (in person or streamed) will be announced shortly.
28/11/2023 – Fans Forum
A pre-planned Fans Forum organised by the club, featuring participation from Neal Ardley, our club’s manager and majority shareholder Matt Uggla. This will provide an excellent opportunity for supporters to engage in constructive discussions about the club’s future and share their thoughts and concerns.
30/11/2023 – SGM with Streaming (Pending SGM Outcome)
On the 30th of November, The Trust’s members will convene a Special General Meeting (SGM) to discuss the proposed sale of the additional 24% stake to 394 Sports. Please note that the streaming of this SGM will only be possible if the SGM for Hybrid and Virtual Meetings passes on the 8th of November. This requires the presence of at least 20 members. We encourage your active participation in today’s SGM to make this significant step toward our club’s future more inclusive.
It is important to clarify that the proposed sale of the 24% stake will not alter the principle of rights held by the Supporters’ Trust in the club’s articles. It is aimed at increasing and modernising these rights in a way that promotes the growth and progression of the football club.
