Twenty‑five years ago, on 1st February 2002, nearly 900 supporters filled the York Barbican to launch the York City Supporters’ Trust. It was a moment powered by belief — a belief that supporters could protect, strengthen, and help shape the future of York City Football Club.

Since that day, through highs and lows, one thing has remained constant: when City needed us, supporters stepped forward. Volunteers gave their time, their energy, and at times their sleepless nights to ensure the club we love continued to stand strong. We owe so much to those who carried the torch.

Today, that same spirit is alive — but something more is happening.
City is rising again.

On the pitch, the team is pushing hard with three crucial months ahead. Off the pitch, our new majority owners and partners have made their ambitions clear: to return York City to the Football League where it belongs. And in the stands, the surge of belief is unmistakable. Home attendances last season were the highest since 1974–75 — a generation-defining achievement and a powerful sign of what’s building.

Our supporters are returning.
The noise is returning.
The pride is returning.
Now, it’s time for the Trust to rise too.

Why Project 2000?

Trust membership currently sits at around 1,050 — made up of roughly 700 Life Members and 350 Annual Members. Every single one of these members has played a part in what we’ve accomplished: monthly socials, special anniversary events, successful fundraising campaigns, and even the donation of a Youth Team minibus. These things matter. They change lives, and they strengthen the club from the inside out.

But imagine what we could do with 2000 members standing together.

Project 2000 isn’t just a target.
It’s a statement.
A declaration that as York City charges forward, its supporters will fuel the journey. It’s about creating the strongest, most unified Supporters’ Trust in our history — ready to honour our 25th anniversary in 2027 by giving more back to the club and its community.
