This update was originally printed in the match day programme for Southend United on 17.01.2026.
Welcome to the first home fixture of 2026 and a very HappyNew Year to not only all YCST members but to all YCFC supporters far and wide! Let’s hope that we are all celebrating again come the last match of the scheduled season at Spotland on April 25th!
The Trust has ambitious plans for 2026. Really ambitious. We want to double membership to 2000. Now given that today’s membership stands at a little over 1000 after 23 years then you will appreciate the scale of the challenge. One thing is for sure. We cannot succeed without our supporters coming on board.
With a home attendance of circa 7000 on Boxing Day then itis clear that we have the fanbase. We need to know what’sstopping you from joining. Yes of course, our majority owners and their business partners are making investment the likes of which we have never seen. But is that it? Do we just sit back and say, thanks for that, crack on with it’?
We, the YCST Board, don’t think that would be fair. Norwould it be right. It really cannot just be about supporters rallying to the cause in desperate times of need. We need to step up now too. ‘Fix the roof whilst the sun shines’ as one Board colleague reminds us.
If the (at least) 6000 non YCST members in attendance on Boxing Day each took out annual membership, then that would be £60k per season that we could donate to the club for projects that they identify, be that Youth Team minibus, training ground improvements etc. What an impact that we could make.
So please. Tell us. Why aren’t you joining? What do you want from YCST before you join? You can either contact us via the email address below or you can come and speak to us before any Saturday home match.
We want this Trust to represent the fans. All fans, young and old. South Standers. East Standers. West Standers. Fans local. Fans from afar.
Topics that we are keen to explore over the next 4 home Saturday matches – Southend United, Braintree Town, Forest Green Rovers and Halifax Town include:
Getting involved and volunteering.
Transport and away travel.
Youth membership and fan culture.
Inclusivity and welcoming everyone.
Please drop by and share your thoughts with us. Tell us what’sworking. What’s not working? What else should we be doing? One thing for sure, we cannot fix that which we do not know is broken.
It is simple to criticize and be destructive. It is much more difficult to be constructive.
There’s never been a better time to become a Trust member and to have a voice. Please help us achieve our goal of doubling Trust membership numbers by the time of our next AGM, Oct/Nov 26. Let us demonstrate that we, the Supporters, are as fully invested in this project to see City back in the Football League as are our majority owners and their partners and our fabulous on pitch management team and playing squad.
Joining could not be simpler. Just visit the Trust website – https://www.ycst.org.uk/join-the-trust/
