The Fossgate Tap, formerly Sutlers, sits at the top corner of Fossgate, just opposite Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate and a stone’s throw from the Shambles. Owned by Camerons Brewery, the pub serves a brilliant range of craft beer, quality cask ale, cocktails, world gins and a wide choice of spirits. It is also proud to partner with local brewers Brew York, with a range of their beers permanently on offer.
The Grade II listed building dates back to around 1792 and traded as the Army and Navy Store for 93 years. Many of the shop’s original fixtures remain, giving the pub its rustic, historic charm. Spread across three floors, with cosy smaller rooms, sofas and large windows to watch the world go by, it’s the perfect place to stop and unwind with a drink.
