We want to update members on our discussions with LNER around discounted travel, as well as asking for volunteers to help administer a future ‘Travel Group’.
Discussions have begun with LNER in order to explore how Trust members may be able to take advantage of lower price travel when following City. We are looking at both travel from York for away matches, as well as travel to York for ‘exiles’ for home matches. These early discussions are very promising and we will keep you updated.
In the meanwhile, if any members have strong administrative skills and would be interested in volunteering to help coordinate such initiatives, please get in touch at info @ycst.org.uk .
There are existing public group discounts supporters may not be aware of and we want to highlight these for you. These offer the following rates:
3-9 passengers – 20%
10-19 passengers – 22%
20 + passengers – 17%
LNER have a dedicated Group Travel Team that will take care of members booking personally. Full details on the LNER website. Please note that there will need to be a ‘Lead Passenger’ who manages the booking transaction on behalf of the entire group.
We have also had confirmation that for groups of 9+passengers the above discounts CAN be used in conjunction with any Railcards such as Senior, 16-25 or Two Togetherwhich already offer 33% discount when used.
So as an example, a ticket published at £50 would attract a 20% discount as part of a group, hence £40. With a Railcard a further 33% discount would mean a purchase price of £26.80.
We encourage you to coordinate with your friends and family where you can so you can take advantage of these schemesahead of any dedicated YCST scheme with LNER
YCST are also aware of concerns around kick-off time changes due to TV coverage, police advice etc and the impact on any travel booked. So, as a reminder, direct from the LNER website:
To Claim A Refund
If it’s within 2 hours, just head to My Account to select the ticket that you wish to refund. If it’s after 2 hours, Advance Tickets cannot be refunded, but can be changed for a £10 admin fee plus the difference in price. Unused Off-Peak or Anytime Single Tickets can be refunded up to 28 days after expiry.
We hope this is of use, and again ask if any member that may wish to volunteer to work on a ‘Travel Group’. If you would like to help us to get this scheme up and running, then please contact the Trust via email – info@ycst.org.uk
