A Message From Jon
York City fans are being given a special chance to own a true piece of club history. A match-worn Jon McCarthy number 7 home shirt, worn during the 1993–1995 seasons, is now up for grabs — complete with the unmistakable YC shoulder design that supporters instantly associate with some of City’s most iconic moments, including the club’s first ever trip to Wembley.
This is not a remake or modern reproduction. It is the original shirt, worn in competitive action by a player who embodied commitment, energy and passion every time he pulled it on. The shirt is a 46-inch chest, making it a standout collector’s item whether you intend to display it, frame it, or proudly wear it.
Supporters can enter the draw for just £5, and you can purchase as many entries as you like. Every ticket bought increases your chance of being the one lucky fan to secure a shirt that rarely surfaces on the market — and almost never in true match-worn condition.
To make the prize even more special, the winner won’t simply just receive the shirt in the post. Jon McCarthy will personally hand it over at a York City home game later this season, giving the winner the opportunity to meet him, share a quick chat, and take home a piece of the club’s past that carries genuine significance.
The competition is open until 31st January, with the winner selected shortly after the closing date.
Only one ticket will win — but every ticket supports the club and its community.
If you want something unique, something with history behind it, and something that won’t come around again, this is it.
Enter for £5 per ticket using the Stripe link below. Once on the payment page you can select the number of tickets on the left hand side.
The competition is now closed, a winner will be announced in due course.
