Announcing the latest donation from our York City Supporters’ Trust Charitable Fund.

In April we announced our Charitable Funds, using the funds returned to us by the Shrimpers Trust. We initially we raised money to help support Southend staff while their club was in a crisis. These monies were used to help staff with their living expenses while their wages were unpaid. Thankfully the crisis was resolved with new ownership stabilising the club and staff were fully paid what they were owed. With funds remaining in the pot Shrimpers Trust kindly offered to return the majority of funds raised by us to be used for charitable purposes in our community. We thank them for this very generous gesture.

Our plan is to maintain these funds as a charitable fund, separately accounted for from other trust monies. We shall donate these funds over time to charitable causes that align with YCST values & causes, but we also aim to raise additional funds for this fund on an ongoing basis. We will however clearly communicate when we are raising funds for this purpose versus funds for general Trust aims such as YCFC infrastructure.

We are delighted to announce the latest recipient: Kyra, a local charity within the city of York whose work is invaluable to the women who they offer many support services too.

A little bit of information about Kyra: We are a registered charity in York that exists to help local women make positive and lasting improvements to their lives. In our unique organisation, we offer a range of 1 to 1 and group support activities and courses for women, from our safe and comfortable, city centre location. We welcome anyone seeking support based on and through the female experience – either those who were assigned female at birth or whose gender identity is female, gender fluid or non-binary and is over the age of 18: we have a young women’s project (the ROSE group) for those aged 18-30. You can find our more about Kyra at https://www.kyra.org.uk/.

Maisie on behalf of Kyra: “We are so grateful to the York City Supporters Trust for this kind donation. £500 will make a real, tangible difference in the lives of women across York who come to Kyra for support, whether that’s with confidence-building, employability, or simply finding a safe and welcoming space. We hope this marks the start of a long and positive relationship between Kyra and the Trust, working together to strengthen our community.”

Sarah Stelling on behalf of York City Supporters’ Trust: “We are very pleased to be supporting such a great charity which makes a great difference to many within our city. We look forward to building a positive relationship and working together.”
