This update was originally printed in the match day programme for Boston on 26.12.2025.
Festive greetings to City followers far and wide, be they attending in person at this afternoon’s fixture with Boston United or indeed anywhere around the globe. It never ceases to amaze just how far and wide the City fan base stretches. Perhaps no finer example than the fabulous newsletter that over a thousand City fans enjoy reading on a daily basis, ‘There’s Only One Arthur Bottom’, with editor Josh Easby publishing from his home in New Zealand! Thank you Josh.
The YCST Board very much hope that all City supporters enjoyed a fabulous Christmas Day with family and friends and that Santa was kind to you all. Of course, like us on the Board, you all probably asked for that one additional Christmas present, three points from today’s Boxing Day fixture!
Print deadlines dictate that these notes are written ahead of last Saturday’s home fixture with Truro City so fingers crossed as we kick off this afternoon City are well placed in the NL table with 48 points from 22 matches. Should that be the case then the eagle eyed amongst you will know that a win today would mean 51 points from 23 matches at the halfway stage. Replicate that in the second half and that would result in a points total of 102.
I seem to recall some team from North London way ending on 102 points last season and it served them well enough, muchto City’s loss! So come on Santa, all we want for Christmas and the New Year is a similar outcome afforded to Barnet last season.
Don’t ask for much do we? Over to Stuart, his management team and the playing squad then. No pressure guys.
We hope that all supporters have seen an increase in Trust activity during calendar year 2025. In no particular order some highlights have been the ‘Renew Your Vows’ scheme for Life Members resulting in a donation to YCFC for the purchase of a youth team minibus, the TIFO for the POSF with Oldham Athletic, the ongoing competition for supporters to design a second TIFO, the 54-55 FA Cup Semi Final 70thanniversary event for our ‘crème de la crème’ supporters that were getting soaked to the skin at the match that day, the 30thanniversary event of City’s famous 3-0 victory at Old Trafford against you know who, several charitable donations to worthyrecipients far and wide, sponsorship of away coach travel to Truro City for the opening away fixture of the season, a new membership system with digital card support and a number of very well attended, very well received YCST socials with great representation from YCFC and its ambassadors under the very careful stewardship of our favourite resident Lion. Great job Yorkie!
Much is planned for 2026 including the BC Memorial Garden which some of you have contributed to at Saturday’s fixture with Truro City for which a huge thank you. More details are to come in the second half of the season.
There’s never been a better time to become a Trust member and to have a voice. Please help us achieve our goal of doubling Trust membership numbers by the time of our next AGM, Oct/Nov 26. Let us demonstrate that we, the Supporters, are as fully invested in this project to see City back in the Football League as are our majority owners and their partners and our fabulous on pitch management team and playing squad.
