Announcing the latest donation from our York City Supporters’ Trust Charitable Fund.

We are delighted to announce the latest recipient, York Guide Dogs For The Blind Association. Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator Jane Kolton – and her now retired guide dog, Venus – commented:

‘We would like to say a huge thank you to York City Supporters Trust for their amazing donation.

Every six minutes, someone in the UK loses their sight, making it difficult for them to get out and about, which can lead to a life of loneliness and isolation. Guide Dogs work tirelessly to provide working dogs to the visually impaired, both adults and children. This is a life-changing experience for them, giving them renewed confidence to do the things they did before losing their sight, and returning them to normality.

At the end of 2024, there were 3,197 working partnerships in the UK.

Guide Dogs are funded entirely by charitable donations. It costs £77,000 to breed, puppy raise and train each guide dog, and £25,000 to support each partnership throughout their working lives together. We cover all expenses relating to our dogs, including food and vet bills. Once again a huge thank you for this generous donation, it really will make a difference’.
