March 26th,2025 marks the 70th Anniversary of Third Division North York City’s famous FA Cup Semi Final appearance against Newcastle United at Hillsborough, Sheffield. City were backed by travelling support of 21,000 fans as they drew 1-1 to force a replay, the first Third Division team ever to do so.

The Trust are delighted to be working with long-time City fan, Dave Smith from Warrington, in organizing a celebratory dinner to bring back together City fans who were at the match on that famous day.

At City’s match with Wealdstone – on March 29th, the closest fixture date to the actual anniversary date – YCST will host 4tables in the club’s Jorvik Lounge. YCST Board Members will be self-funding one of the tables.

We are seeking sponsorship for the other 3 tables. Priced at £470 the package will include:

  • 1230 – Arrival
  • 1315 – Pre-Match Dinner (with Q&A with former City player,Iain Dunn)
  • 1500 – First Half
  • 1545 – HT Tea & Coffee
  • 1600 – Second Half
  • 1645 – Option for guests to stay behind for drinks in the LNER Lounge and MoM award.

We would welcome interest from any local business, or indeed any City fan, who would be interested in sponsoring a table. In doing so you would be offered two places, and you would be able to mingle with City fans from that famous day, who by now must be aged a minimum of late 70s, 80s and 90s, and must have some fascinating memories to share.

Please register your interest in sponsorship, or if you attended the Semi Final to terry.espiner@ycst.org.uk

We hope that you will be able to help us make this a day to remember for this group of very special fans who have shown such dedication and loyalty to the club over such an extended period of time.

We are determined to provide them with a day to remember as a thank you for their fantastic lifetime of support.

Keep the Faith.
