Benefits of joining the Trust.
Why not join the Trust today?

YCST has been one of the best-supported Trusts in this country. A strong Trust is good for the Club and good for the Community.

The formation of the Supporters’ Trust – in January 2002 - was a very significant point in the history of York City. Through the mechanism of the Trust, the supporters and the community have played, and will continue to play, a key role in helping to ensure professional football in York is maintained for future generations.

Each member owns a £1 nominal share in the Trust. Each eligible member has the right to stand for election to the Trust Board, to vote in the election of Trust Board representatives and to attend the AGM.

Of course, backed by the strength of its membership, in March 2003 the Trust completed the Rescue Package to save York City from extinction. So the Trust now owns York City and the Trust Board oversees the operations of the Club guided by the Code of Conduct.

Since the Trust completed the Rescue Package, its role has evolved further and can be summarised as follows…

  • Promoting YCST/York City within the football/sports community;
  • Promoting York City within the local community;
  • Working with all parties to ensure the Club continues to have a decent home in the city;
  • Carrying out the operations of the Trust itself, as a separate legal entity with circa 2,000 members;
  • Fundraising to provide funds to pass on to help the Club's finances;
  • To represent the interests of the community and supporters in the way in which the Club is operated;
  • Helping and organising for more volunteers to be somehow involved in assisting the Trust/Club for the benefit of York City;
  • A guardianship role in relation to the running of the Club - as set out in the 'Code of Conduct' governing the relationship between the Trust and the Club.

Ahead of each City match, a random draw is made of YCST members and two members (and their guests) are invited to attend the match in the Boardroom and can watch the match in the area in the Mainstand commonly referred to as the Directors’ Box.
